India will be under lockdown for three weeks to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country. Thousands of companies have stopped production activities in the nation and remain uncertain about future activities. Retailers dealing in non-essential goods are taking this time to work on different business strategies and business ideas. In a special interaction with Retail4Growth, Sanjay Agarwal Managing Director - FRDC shares some inspiring tips to implement during the lockdown
I see this as a period which we always desired - a break from work, but never got it. So now when we have got this opportunity to be at home with our loved ones, we can either use the time worrying or use this the time to do things you never did.
Here are some suggestions:
1. Know your dear ones
Empathize with what’s going around and ensure you are in touch with your loved one and all those matter to you, including your office colleagues and staff, friends and families. Also stay in touch with what’s happening in your neighborhood and your adjacent apartments. You may never have time to know who stays next door. This gives you a bearing and ability to react in any situation in the new future. This also helps create new special bonds.
2- Reflect on your self
We seldom get time to do things we wanted to do or do them the way we wanted to do. This is the time. Call clients and say you need ten more days to create something good. He or she will give you twelve. You and your client are both in the same boat and mostly in the same mood and environment. So this is the best time to take off the professional mask and express your talent. For example, send him/her a recorded bathroom song of yours.
3-Give Freedom
We all know this will not be forever. It can be that time when you give people the freedom to all those associated with you - freedom to do what they want to do and how they want to express their work. Whatever gets created in this period will have a memorable value in decades to come.
4- Don’t stress
We can’t control our eventuality. What is bound to happen will happen. Rules will be rewritten. None of us alone can change the world. There is no point in worrying about the future. Instead, script your future in terms of what you would do differently when normal times resume.
5- Never be an opportunist, nor be a victim
People react and behave differently in different situations and so do organizations. We will not be able to resist that. What we can do is control ourselves and take a vow that we will neither be an opportunist nor a victim. We could also choose who we want to work with in future.
